(D-Conn.), who chairs the Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the FDA budget. In an interview, DeLauro said she wants the agency to disclose its findings and to develop a plan to remove melamine from formula. “We’re talking about babies, about the most vulnerable. This really makes me angry.”
The FDA found melamine and cyanuric Read the rest of this entry »

I recently picked up a copy of the magazine Men’s Health as part of my ongoing effort to lose 50 pounds (240 – 190lbs). I’m 80% of the way to my goal which I started in May, 2008. I haven’t looked at a Men’s Health in years. Apparently they now run a regular section called ‘Men’s Wealth’ where they deal with all things financial.
When I first glanced at the article in this section titled ‘7 Money Tricks Rich Guys Know’, I wasn’t expecting much, Read the rest of this entry »
Vitamin Water Making Deceptive Health Claims?
The Center for Science in the Public Interest has slapped a lawsuit on Coca-Cola, maker of VitaminWater drinks, calling its marketing claims unsubstantiated and deceptive. Rather than helping reduce the risk of death by 90 percent, as once thought, the colonoscopy’s success rate was closer to 60 percent, the study found.

Lisa Walker enjoys combat.
The 25-year-old Augusta woman enthusiastically kicks and punches her way through Bodycombat classes at Health Central Wellness and Fitness.
The class, which features mixed martial-arts moves, is one of the newer ones offered there and part of what some say is a trend toward more specialty-group classes. Others say that it is more likely a fad but that more traditional disciplines such as Pilates and core strengthening Read the rest of this entry »
I knew who Melonie Norris was the minute I walked in the room. She was the one in phenomenal condition with a friendly smile.
Reader Leslie Allison had suggested Norris would be a great person to feature, and she’s right. Norris and her fraternal twin sister, Jamie, were born in Johnson City, Tenn. They went to East Tennessee University to study nursing. There Norris met her future husband, Paul.
Upon graduation, they went to his home state of Read the rest of this entry »
