Swiss-based Arpida is the latest company to be turned down by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the approval of its antibiotic that is meant to treat drug-resistant infections. Arpida's iclaprim is the most recent in a long line of antibiotics that have been sent back by the FDA for further proof that they can actually treat these killer strains of bacteria that have recently begun to infect those outside the hospital setting.

A new study by the New York State Health Foundation shows that about one-third of enrollees in the state’s public health insurance programs, including Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid lose their coverage because they fail to complete the annual re certification process.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Drugs used by millions of patients to control epileptic seizures must carry warnings about heightened risks of suicide, federal regulators said Tuesday.
The Food and Drug Administration announcement comes almost a year after the agency first said patients taking the drugs have a slightly higher risk for suicide than those taking dummy pills.

CUMBERLAND — Thieves entered 21 offices at two medical office buildings of the Western Maryland Health System sometime Monday night or early Tuesday.
Cumberland Police and C3I investigators responded to the Johnson Heights Medical Offices building on Kent Avenue and the Memorial Medical Offices building at the Memorial campus after the entries were discovered at about 6 a.m. by Memorial Hospital security personnel.
