Emory University announced Friday that it has changed the name of Emory Crawford Long Hospital to Emory University Hospital Midtown.
“Being more clearly affiliated with Emory in the public eye will help expand upon the hospital’s 100-year tradition of providing outstanding care to people in metro Atlanta and throughout the region,” said James Wagner, president of Emory University.

Once again, Johnson & Johnson is recalling some
because of a defect that could cause patients to overdose on fentanyl. This is the second time in less than a year that Johnson & Johnson has recalled Duragesic patches. A similar action was issued by the company just last February.

The UN has warned that Palestinians in Gaza are facing a serious health and food crisis,
as Israeli air strikes continued for a seventh straight day. The UN’s chief aid co-ordinator
for the territory, Maxwell Gaylard, said the “critical emergency” comes despite an

Plans to build a $17 million, 88,000-square-foot full-service fitness center in Urbandale have been indefinitely postponed, according to city officials.
The project is the second of two major casualties in Urbandale because of the economy. The first came in October when Brunswick Bowling terminated its contract with Mid-America Group to develop a site for a bowling center in the Northpark Business Centre at 8901-9099 Northpark Drive.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Friday named a North Dakota nurse and expert on rural health to run the government’s community clinics program.
Mary Wakefield, who started out as a nurse and became a health policy expert, now directs the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota. She will lead the Health Resources and Services Administration, a small agency with an important public health mission.
