Fen-Phen Retrial To Begin Tuesday

(AP) – A retrial begins Tuesday for two disbarred lawyers accused of cheating their clients out of $94.6 million in a 2001 settlement with the makers of the diet drug fen-phen.
William Gallion and Shirley Cunningham Jr. have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and eight counts of aiding and abetting wire fraud.
In their first trial in July, a federal jury could not reach a verdict. A third defendant, Melbourne Mills, was acquitted.

Car Explosion Wounds Arkansas Medical Official

this morning by a car explosion outside his house, police said.
Officials from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms tell ABC News that the explosion was caused by some sort of “explosive device” planted in Dr. Trent Pierce’s white Lexus.
Pierce, a family physician, was taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., where he was listed in critical condition.

An ongoing investigation involving the sales of illegal drugs resulted in two arrests at a University of Miami fraternity house.
