SF accuses health insurers of sex discrimination

SAN FRANCISCO—The city of San Francisco is accusing health insurers of discriminating against women by charging substantially higher premiums based solely on gender.
The allegations appear in a lawsuit filed Tuesday by City Attorney Dennis Herrera against California insurance and health care regulators.

4 Students Taken To Hospital After School Bus Wreck

UNION COUNTY, Fla. – Four students in Union County were rushed to an area hospital on Wednesday after a pickup truck driver rear-ended their school bus.
The wreck took place at about 3:15 p.m. after school on State Road 121 just south of Raiford.
Union County Sheriff’s deputies said a pickup truck driver failed to stop at an intersection and rear-ended the bus.
Four of the students onboard the bus were take to Lake Butler Hospital as a precaution.

New bill could allow Methodist’s DeSoto County hospital

to build a proposed $151 million hospital in Olive Branch, Miss. has been introduced in the Mississippi Legislature and is making its way through the committee system.
Mississippi state Sen. Merle Flowers (R-Southaven) is the bill’s sponsor and he introduced it when the legislature convened earlier this month. The bill has passed the Senate’s Public Health and Welfare Committee and has been referred to the Appropriations Committee.

Peanut company lied on salmonella testing, FDA finds

The FDA did not formally announce the new findings about the company’s testing, but rather made small revisions to an online report about the investigation on Thursday. Only when a Washington Post reporter discovered the changes did the news become more widely known.
