Study adds to evidence of vaccine safety

CHICAGO (AP) — A new study from Italy adds to a mountain of evidence that a mercury-based preservative once used in many vaccines doesn’t hurt children, offering more reassurance to parents.
In the early 1990s, thousands of healthy Italian babies in a study of whooping cough vaccines got two different amounts of the preservative thimerosal (pronounced thih-MEHR’-uh-sawl) from all their routine shots.

FDA adds suicide warning to epilepsy drugs

WASHINGTON (AP) — Drugs used by millions of patients to control epileptic seizures must carry warnings about heightened risks of suicide, federal regulators said Tuesday.

New facility adds some punch to fitness

A new Shawnee fitness facility, Punch Boxing + Fitness 5435 Roberts St., will have a grand opening Jan. 3.
Brad Goetch, owner, said the facility will offer one-hour fitness classes for both adults and children ages 8 and up, taught by certified boxing and fitness instructors. Classes include boxing, kickboxing, interval conditioning, yoga and strength training.
