(NaturalNews) The FDA has been caught red-handed conspiring with the chemical industry to conclude that Bisphenol-A, the plastics chemical, is harmless to human health. As revealed by the Environmental Working Group (see below), the FDA based its evaluation of BPA on a report authored by the American Chemistry Council (ACC), a trade group that represents chemical companies and plastics manufacturers.
The FDA’s evaluation concluded that BPA was perfectly Read the rest of this entry »

A retired medical supply manufacturer who considers bisphenol A to be “perfectly safe” gave $5 million to the research center of Martin Philbert, chairman of the Food and Drug Association panel about to make a pivotal ruling on the chemical’s safety.
Philbert did not disclose the donation, which is nearly 50 times larger than the $210,000 annual budget of the University of Michigan Risk Science Center, where he is founder Read the rest of this entry »

A study being released today finds that bisphenol A, a chemical widely used to make plastic and suspected of causing cancer, stays in the body much longer than previously thought.
The findings are significant because the longer the chemical lingers in the body, the greater chance it has of doing harm, scientists say.
Researchers from the University of Rochester in New York also say the chemical may get into the body from sources such as plastic Read the rest of this entry »

NEW YORK (Associated Press) – Government experts are scheduled to meet Tuesday to discuss the safety of bisphenol A, a widely used chemical at the center of a debate among scientists, parents, politicians and corporations.
The Food and Drug Administration has asked its panel of science experts to weigh in on whether the plastic hardening chemical poses a risk to children and infants. Bisphenol has been used in baby bottles and the lining of canned Read the rest of this entry »

GAITHERSBURG, Md. -(Dow Jones)- Food and Drug Administration Commissioner
Andrew von Eschenbach on Friday said a highly critical review of the agency’s
stance on a chemical found in plastic food and drink containers raises important
questions.
A review released Wednesday was sharply critical of the FDA’s view that the
chemical Bisphenol-A, or BPA, is safe at current levels found in plastic food
containers, saying the agency relied too heavily on Read the rest of this entry »

Federal officials are investigating whether the chairman of a panel about to make a pivotal ruling on the safety of bisphenol A has been compromised by a large donation that was disclosed by the Journal Sentinel on Sunday.
The Food and Drug Administration is reviewing all documents to ensure that Martin Philbert complied with the agency’s disclosure requirements, said FDA spokesman Michael Herndon.

Companies manufacturing baby containers and bottles have been issued letters by the attorneys of Connecticut, New Jersey and Delaware. The letters state about a ban on the use of Bisphenol A as it is toxic for babies.
The FDA guidelines do not state BPA as harmful for infants. But it has received severe criticism for its decision from the Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
“Unfortunately the federal agency, the Federal Food and Drug Read the rest of this entry »

For years, the federal government has ignored mounting evidence that bisphenol A may be harmful to kids.
Study after study suggested that exposure to the chemical caused serious problems in laboratory animals.
Yet the U.S. Food and Drug Administration leaned on research that concluded otherwise, nearly all of which was bought and paid for by the chemical industry.
The FDA’s contempt for American consumers ran so deep, its coziness with Read the rest of this entry »
