Man in Fresno hospital contracts Legionnaires'

FRESNO, Calif.—Officials say a contaminated water system is the cause of a case of Legionnaires’ Disease at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno.
Officials said Wednesday that a 26-year-old man hospitalized with a bacterial skin infection came down with the severe form of pneumonia while housed in the west wing of the hospital.

Nicola bans hospital contracts

Scottish Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon is due to announce that Scottish hospitals are to be barred from putting out more cleaning and catering contracts to the private sector.
Instead, health boards will have to be responsible for these services.
The move follows on from steps already announced by the Scottish Government in a bid to improve hospital cleanliness and reduce infections such as MRSA.
