Hennepin County Medical Center Cuts 100 Jobs, Freezes Spending

announced Monday it will eliminate 100 jobs by the end of February and freeze capital spending on anything that doesn’t have a binding contract in place.
About 80 percent of the jobs cut by HCMC are currently vacant, but the other 20 percent of the cuts will be a combination of layoffs and reduced hours.

YWCA cuts back on subsidized fitness memberships

Dozens of residents of low-income housing and shelters have lost their subsidized fitness memberships at the Calgary YWCA.
The organization recently decided it couldn’t afford to offset the cost of the memberships for people living in places such as the Salvation Army and Inn From the Cold.

from first heart attack might want to consider using a low fat or Mediterranean
diet and both drastically reduce future cardiovascular events, according to a
new study.
Use of a low fat or Mediterranean diet reduced the risk
of cardiovascular events and mortality by about 70 percent in patients who experienced first heart attack, the study found.
