Roof leak closes track at fitness facility

Employees of the new American Family Fitness center in Short Pump received an unwelcome surprise when they showed up for work yesterday morning.
Rainwater that accumulated on the building’s roof leaked onto the quarter-mile track some time after the fitness center closed Friday night, assistant manager Kyle Moneymaker said yesterday.
The track will remain closed until the track dries and workers can check for mold.

New facility adds some punch to fitness

A new Shawnee fitness facility, Punch Boxing + Fitness 5435 Roberts St., will have a grand opening Jan. 3.
Brad Goetch, owner, said the facility will offer one-hour fitness classes for both adults and children ages 8 and up, taught by certified boxing and fitness instructors. Classes include boxing, kickboxing, interval conditioning, yoga and strength training.

ORMC Horton campus to be reborn as medical educational facility

7-Year-Old Boy Dies At Poulsbo Fitness Facility

POULSBO, Wash. –
An accident at a Poulsbo fitness facility killed a 7-year-old boy Tuesday evening, the Fire Department said.
The boy’s father was exercising Tuesday in the weight room at Armstrong Fitness University on Front Street in Poulsbo.
It appears a weight or weight rack may have fallen on the boy’s head shortly before 6 p.m., said Jody Matson of the Poulsbo Fire Department.

RICHMOND, Va. — Fitness machine maker Nautilus is expanding its Grayson County, Va., manufacturing facility, creating 60 jobs.
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said Thursday the $1.7 million expansion will add a cardio exercise equipment line to the company’s manufacturing operations.

Rapist fired from LA health facility—again

LOS ANGELES—Officials say a convicted rapist who was fired from his job as a medical technician was then rehired to do the same work at a Los Angeles health clinic.
Now 48-year-old Gariner Beasley has been fired from that job, too.
The Los Angeles Times says Beasley raped a woman in 1991 while on duty as a Los Angeles police officer, but he was still hired at County-USC Medical Center as an X-ray technician after he got out of prison.
