DeLong Focuses on Fitness Through Zumba Classes

- Community members are making an extra effort to keep kids healthy.
DeLong Middle School staff members are leading “zumba” fitness classes. It's for students and staff every Monday and Thursday after school. They say zumba combines latin music with easy-to-follow moves.
“It's a lot of fun, we're getting sweaty and having fun. And kids and staff together, modeling exercise and having fun and moving,” says Teacher Carol Mayberry.

On the move: New kid care center focuses on fitness

> Kidz Fit, a new child-care center in Fort Collins, will open Monday at 200 W. Foothills Parkway.
Partners David Palmer and David Haase, who started Anytime Fitness, have created a kid-haven with motion fitness, WII fit, Light Space and bounce activities.
For parents, Kidz Fit offers biometric security, transportation to and from school and extended hours to accommodate working parents with early-morning hours.

New Live Healthy Iowa focuses on total lifestyle

When Lighten Up Iowa began eight years ago, the program’s focus was to help people shed the pounds.
Since then, the goal has expanded to encompass more overall health, said Jim Hallihan, executive director of the Iowa Sports Foundation, which runs the program. That shift meant finding a more appropriate name for the statewide, 100-day, team-based weight loss and physical activity challenge.

Breast health summit focuses on the underinsured

Adrienne Evans was a working mom and volunteer in rural West Texas when she felt a lump in her breast two years ago.
