MJ Harris completes Texas hospital

said it has completed the construction of a rehabilitation hospital in Texas.
The Birmingham-based general contractor recently completed the 64,000-square-foot Reliant Rehabilitation Hospital of North Houston, said a news release.
The three-story building includes 40 private rehabilitation rooms and 20 private skilled nursing rooms to serve patients in North Harris and Montgomery counties in Texas.

Harris: Avantis gets backing for colonoscopy camera

If you or someone you love had one of the 26 million colonoscopies performed last year, the recent news from Canada had to be disconcerting. A study of 10,000 patients found that the procedure, considered the gold standard for detecting colorectal cancer, just isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
Rather than helping reduce the risk of death by 90 percent, as once thought, the colonoscopy’s success rate was closer to 60 percent, the study found.

Harris Methodist Hospital renews Trauma 2 credentials

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has renewed its credentials as a Level 2 trauma center equipped to treat victims of auto wrecks, gunshots and other serious injuries.
Harris Fort Worth, which first won the Level 2 designation in 1986, struggled with trauma care for several months last year when a shortage of neurosurgeons forced the hospital to turn away some emergency patients with brain and spine injuries.

UK's Harris Released From Hospital

UK’s Ramon Harris has been released from a Tuscaloosa hospital and is returning to Lexington on the team’s charter plane.
Harris fainted outside UK’s locker room before the second half of the game against Alabama. He regained consciousness quickly, but was taken by ambulance to DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, where he was alert while being checked out.

Harris County ME counting 9 Ike deaths

Harris County M.E. counting 9 Ike deaths
The Harris County Medical Examiner says the deaths of at least six more people are being blamed on Hurricane Ike, bringing the total handled by the coroner’s office to at least nine.

Tuscaloosa, AL (AHN) – Kentucky guard Ramon Harris was released from the hospital and traveled home with the team after collapsing at halftime outside the Wildcats locker room during Saturday night’s game vs. Alabama.

Study: 1 million Harris County residents in 2005 had no health

An estimated 1.1 million people living in Harris County in 2005, or 32 percent of the county’s population of 3.6 million, had no health care coverage, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The estimates at the county level are the most extensive ever published, according to the bureau, which looked at people with and without health insurance across gender, age, income and race.
