LA JARA Conejos County residents are invited to come and find out their risk for heart disease at the Love Your Sweet Heart, Lower Your Risk for Heart Disease family health fair. The health fair is Saturday, Feb. 14 (Valentines Day) from 7 a.m.- 12 p.m. noon at the La Jara Elementary School.

Mercy Health Center will unite the region’s women with 70 other communities across the U.S. through the fifth annual national Spirit of Women Day of Dance for Health on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The event will combine the fun of dancing to different forms of music, such as ballroom dancing, rock ‘n’ roll, country-line, Zumba, clogging and even belly-dancing, with health screenings and consumer education on heart disease and other women’s health issues.

The Mental Health Client Action Network of Santa Cruz County is hosting its first art show at the Louden Nelson Community Center through Dec. 26, showcasing artwork of seven of the center’s clients.
“Art is one of the things that really does have the power to heal people and help them to leave their mental illnesses,” said Andrew Shachat, network art teacher and recovery specialist. “It creates a community that clients can be a part of.”
