State loses case over special diet for PKU

A Nashville judge has ruled the state was wrong to refuse to pay for special foods for two young TennCare patients with a rare genetic disorder.

Loudonville man loses 91 pounds by diligently following diet plan

LOUDONVILLE ” Around New Year’s Day last year, Tom Motz was facing some significant health issues. His physician, Dr. Deborah Fast of Wooster, had warned him he had to lose some weight.

WVa hospital loses $1M in Madoff funds

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Charleston Area Medical Center and its foundation lost a combined $1 million in investments with Bernie Madoff, the New York financier accused of running a Ponzi scheme that bilked investors of $50 billion.
The foundation lost about $800,000 and the hospital lost about $200,000.
Gail Pitchford, president of the foundation, says the hospital’s philanthropic arm still has $143.8 million in assets.

O’Connor Hospital got a bit of a scare Monday afternoon when its emergency generator failed to kick in during a power outage in San Jose.
About 3:25 p.m., an outage on Bascom Avenue from Hamilton to Forest avenues knocked out power to 1,200 customers, including O’Connor Hospital.

Man loses 160 pounds on unique diet

A Croatian man has lost 160 pounds in just six months on a diet of garlic and onions.
The man weighed more than 360 pounds and doctors warned him to lose weight or risk dying.
The man says he tried several diets that didn’t work but then started living off garlic and onions on a plain biscuit with carrot juice.
