About 500 University of Nebraska students participated in a 12-hour dance marathon in Lincoln Friday night into Saturday morning that raised more than $35,000 for Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha.
The event ran from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds will help the hospital’s Child-Life Program and Rainbow House.

Training has already begun for many of the participants in the 2009 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, set for March 29, 2009. Registration is currently open for this race that has steadily grown in popularity in the four years runners have taken to the streets of Knoxville.

Running a marathon is a huge stress on one’s body, no matter how healthy you are or think you are. BEDFORD — Zachary Sotelo can’t run as fast as most 10-year-olds.
And his bones are more fragile than the average child his age.
Sotelo was born with spina bifida, an opening in the spine.
Sotelo’s mother, Staci Sotelo, said the birth defect hasn’t slowed her son.
He plays wheelchair basketball with the Dallas Junior Wheelchair Mavericks Team and baseball with the Miracle League in Arlington.

Health, fitness expo to be part of 2008 Marathon of the Palm Beaches

The 2008 Publix Health & Fitness Expo is set for Dec. 5-6 at the Harriet Himmel Theater in CityPlace.

(Springfield, MO) — Hundreds of people got up early this morning for a long run.
The Bass Pro Outdoor Fitness Festival marathon kicked off just after daybreak, with runners from around the world.
Runners chose either the 10k or half-marathon, both of which looped through south Springfield.
Even though the temperatures may have been brisk this morning, that didn't stop these runners from stepping up to the starting line.
