A mentally disabled Redwood City man who was reported missing Dec. 21 has turned up safe at Valley Medical Center in San Jose, police reported Tuesday.
Danny Benavente, also known as Danny Aguilar, actually checked into the hospital the same day he was reported missing, said Sgt. Steve Blanc. But police had entered his name as Danny Benavente, while the hospital recorded it as Danny Aguilar.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal regulators set a safety threshold Friday for the industrial chemical melamine that is greater than the amount of contamination found so far in U.S.-made infant formula.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — An 11-year-old Florida boy was abandoned at a Nebraska hospital Wednesday, just days before lawmakers meet to change the much-criticized “safe haven” law.
The boy is the 31st child abandoned since the law took effect in July. It was intended to protect unwanted newborns from being abandoned but doesn’t set any age limit.

BELMONT, OH – Belmont Community Hospital (BCH) officials are assuring the public that its water supply is safe.
Bellaire officials today reported that hydrochloric acid accidentally entered the village’s water supply and asked that the public there not drink or use water.
However, BCH Administrator Gary Gould said the medical facility receives its water from the Belmont County Water District and not from the village water system.

Girl is 29th child left under Neb. safe-haven law
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska authorities say an 11-year-old girl has become the 29th child to be left at a hospital under the state’s much-criticized safe haven law.
State child and families division chief Todd Landry says the girl was left Friday morning at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. She’s from Douglas County, which includes Omaha. Landry says the girl was dropped by her mother.
