Students Stop School Bus When Driver Suffers Medical Condition

CHARDON, Ohio — Three teenaged boys are being called heroes for taking action when their bus driver suffered a medical emergency while taking them to school.
“I’m at Auburn Road and Bartholomew Road and there’s a school bus driver in front of me either drunk or having a medical emergency,” a driver is heard saying during a call to 911.
Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland says Jeff Eippert, 15; Tyler Pirc, 15; and Mike Tutolo, 14 are life-savers.

Proposed UC-Merced medical school aims to boost ranks of rural doctors

State Lt. Governor John Garamendi is proposing an ambitious fast-track medical school at University of California-Merced in an effort to create more doctors for the San Joaquin Valley, one of the most physician-poor regions in the state.
In a combined college/MD program, entering freshmen could shave up to three years off the time it takes to become a doctor. The cost would be only slightly higher than that of attending a traditional UC, said Garamendi.

Two people were arrested after the execution of a search warrant revealed they were selling drugs near an elementary school.

Carbon monoxide at Heights school sends 11 to hospital

Nine fourth-grade students and two teachers at Harvard Elementary School were taken to a hospital this morning with headaches and nausea after elevated levels of carbon monoxide were found in their classroom, school officials said.
