KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — The governor of Kandahar province lit a huge bonfire Saturday with drugs that Afghan police have seized in the past three years.
Ramatullah Raufi set the drugs on fire in an open field.
He says the drugs have burned his country and that’s why he torched them.
The drugs, which included 114 kilograms of heroin, one tonne of poppies and 10 tonnes of hashish, were seized around Kandahar city.

NILAI: The Customs Department has seized RM12.29 million worth of drugs, mainly designer ones like ketamine and Eramin pills, so far this year.
It is triple the value when compared with the RM4.019 million worth of drugs seized in the same period last year.

Police seized drugs, worth more than RM500,000, and detained three suspects in two separate raids in Kuala Lumpur since Friday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Muhammad Sabtu Osman said a 29-year-old Bolivian man and a Thai woman, aged 37, were detained in the Friday raid at a hotel in Brickfields at 9.15pm.

Salt Lake police have arrested a man accused of dealing drugs out of a grocery store parking lot.

A 24-year-old man has been charged after police found drugs and a gun at a West End home.
Police were called to the 1000-block of Sherburn Street about 9 p.m. Friday and arrested a man who allegedly had been in possession of a gun.
