French Hospital is honored for excellence in three different areas of service.
The hospital received awards for its excellence in patient service, cardiovascular care and growth and expansion.
Catholic Healthcare West owns the hospital. Its CEO has ties to President-Elect Barack Obama and has worked with him in Chicago on several occasions.

Health investigators probing three Curry County cases involving an invasive bacteria have found no direct connection between the victims, according to an epidemiologist with the state health department.

I recently picked up a copy of the magazine Men’s Health as part of my ongoing effort to lose 50 pounds (240 – 190lbs). I’m 80% of the way to my goal which I started in May, 2008. I haven’t looked at a Men’s Health in years. Apparently they now run a regular section called ‘Men’s Wealth’ where they deal with all things financial.

A traffic accident in Philippi sent three people to the hospital, the West Virginia State Police says.
A pickup truck was traveling west on Chestnut Ridge Road, when it hit a patch of black ice, according to troopers.
The driver of the truck is said to have lost control of the truck and gone over an embankment before crashing into a house.
All three passengers were flown via helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Three Britons appeared at a special court sitting last night charged over the 1.7-tonne cocaine haul seized from a yacht off the Co Cork coast.

Nearly three-quarters of a million dollars will be distributed among three health centers in southern New Jersey, with senior citizens and women receiving most of the benefits.
The money is part of $5 million being awarded to 16 federally qualified health centers in New Jersey by the state Department of Health and Senior Services. Eight centers are putting the grant money toward services related to prenatal care and women’s health.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three Milwaukee-area residents in the town of Birch for drug trafficking, according to a news release.

Mercifully, there seems to be a diet-book truce. Authors appear to agree on what to eat: vegetables, fruits, lean protein, whole grains and beans — with the occasional indulgence. Each author may add or quibble about a certain food here or there, but each “system” is centered on the same healthy food. So this trio of books by scientists is refreshing because they delve more into the psychology and physiology of eating.

Gaza – Ma’an – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip told Ma’an on Monday that three Palestinians died from wounds obtained during the three-week offensive.
They were being treated at Ash-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Ambulance crews also uncovered at least 12 corpses of Palestinians killed in the fighting, many of whom may have bled to death awaiting medical care.
