in Westwood will open a 7,500-square-foot dedicated space Monday for its Blood and Marrow Transplant program.
The space’s renovation started in the fall and cost $2 million, KU Hospital spokesman Dennis Minich said Wednesday. The project was paid for by Annette Bloch’s $20 million donation in the fall, Minich said.
The Blood and Marrow Transplant program had been in shared space in the cancer pavilion, he said.

Surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic have performed the nation’s first near-total face transplant, officials at the hospital said on Tuesday.

Hospital officials say UC Davis Medical Center has begun the process to move 37 patients to other waiting lists.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Washington Mayor Marion Barry has been admitted to a hospital to prepare for a kidney transplant.

DALLAS (AP) – A heart has been found for the younger of two North Texas sisters placed on the transplant list.
A spokeswoman at Children’s Medical Center Dallas says that the transplant surgery for 7-year-old Emily Smith began Monday morning and was expected to last at least till mid-afternoon.

Doctors say the woman who received the nation’s first face transplant two months ago has left the hospital in Cleveland.
