than in any of the prior three years, a slight consolation to an industry
struggling with greater scrutiny, thousands of layoffs and thinning drug
pipelines.
The Food and Drug Administration approved 24 new, or first-of-a-kind, drugs in
2008, more than the 18 approved in 2006, the 22 approved in 2006 and the 20

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A former mental hospital psychologist who said he became interested in
while treating sex offenders was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison.
The man, Joseph Belanger, 61, of Jamestown, pleaded guilty last year to receiving and possessing materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors.

Washington, Jan 12 (IANS) New drugs being developed for complex diseases might still take eight long years to win US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, according to a study.Although the average time for FDA approval for new drugs declined to 1.1 years in the 2005-07 period, yet combined clinical and approval time continues to hover around eight years, according to Tufts Centre for the Study of Drug Development (Tufts CSDD).

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—An Oceano man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for trading drugs for sex with 12-year-old and 14-year-old girls.
Jose Luis Rosario pleaded no contest earlier to felony charges, including lewd acts with a child and furnishing drugs to minors. Rosario was also ordered during Monday’s sentencing to register as a sex offender.
The 27-year-old Rosario had sex with two girls ages 12 and 14 in motel rooms.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – A prominent personal injury attorney has been banned from practicing law in Idaho for at least two years after admitting he delayed payments to his clients.
Boise attorney Bill Litster has agreed to disqualify himself from practicing law while the Idaho State Bar investigates his claim that a medical condition led to his professional misconduct.

URBANA – A Champaign man with a criminal history stretching back more than 40 years has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for selling drugs from his home.
Harry Ezra “Hot Papa” Johnson, 66, had pleaded guilty in September to unlawful delivery of cocaine for selling one-tenth of a gram of cocaine on Feb. 11, 2005, to an informant working with Champaign police.
